AUDITION INFORMATION

• Auditions open to current 3rd grade through 9th grade.

 

• All auditionees should attend EITHER

Monday May 5th OR Tuesday May 6th and be prepared for callbacks on Wednesday, May 7th.​

 

• All production team members and volunteers 18 and over will be required to submit information for a background check before participating in the show.

AUDITIONS

Monday & Tuesday, May 5th & 6th

6:00 to 8:00 pm

 

• Music:  Please learn the highlighted lyrics to Circle of Life. You will be asked to sing solo, along with the vocal/instrumental track. Click here for Circle of Life sheet music. Click here for vocal track for Circle of Life.

• Readings:  All auditionees will be asked to “cold read” from the script, provided at auditions.

​

• Choreography:  A short dance combination will be taught and performed during auditions.  Wear appropriate clothing and shoes that you can comfortably and safely dance in.  Please bring a water bottle with you.

 

CALLBACKS

Callbacks are not anticipated, however if the Director needs to see more, you will be brought back Wednesday, May 7th at 6:00 pm. Both students and their guardian will be contacted if they are being asked to attend callbacks.

​

Callbacks are not a guarantee of a role, also please do not be discouraged if you do not get a callback.

 

If you are cast, there is a $75.00 participation fee for this production.  Scholarships (partial or full) are available if needed.  Please contact a producer if you need a scholarship.

 

REHEARSALS

• A read-through/parent meeting will take place soon after the cast has been selected.  This will allow the production team to clearly outline expectations of the team, cast and parents.  The cast members will be given their scripts so that they can begin working on their role. (date to be determined) 

​

• Rehearsals for this production will begin June 2nd at the Franke Center, Marshall, Michigan.

​

• Rehearsals run Monday-Friday 4-6 pm at the Franke Center, Marshall, Michigan.

​

• There will be no rehearsal July 4th

​

• There will be no rehearsal July 10th-11th due to our high school production, Sound of Music opening.

​

** Conflicts will need to be listed on your audition sheet in order for them to be honored. 

** Starting with Load in (July 13), ALL cast members must be present, no exceptions.

Character Overview 

RAFIKI – a mysterious and wise mandrill 

​

TIMON – a sarcastic, outgoing meerkat who lives in the jungle 

 

PUMBAA – a gentle, kind-hearted warthog and Timon’s best friend

​

MUFASA – a lion, king of the Pridelands, and Simba’s father 

​

SARABI – a lioness, queen of the Pridelands, and Simba’s mother 

 

ZAZU – a hornbill, Mufasa’s loyal yet fretful attendant 

 

SCAR – a lion, Mufasa’s jealous brother 

​

YOUNG SIMBA / SIMBA – a curious, eager lion who will one day be king 

​

LIONESSES – the female lions who care for the Pride Lands 

​

YOUNG NALA / NALA – a spunky, brave lioness and Simba’s best friend 

 

SARAFINA – a lioness, Nala’s mother 

 

BANZAI – a scruffy male hyena who serves Scar 

 

SHENZI – a tough female hyena who serves Scar 

 

ED – a dimwitted male hyena who serves Scar 

 

HYENAS – stinking, mangy animals who live outside the Pride lands

ENSEMBLE – the animal inhabitants of the Pride Lands, including the wildebeest; also transform into the jungle and desert
