Auditions

Audition Dates: September 7th & 8th

Marshall High School

7:00 to 9:00 pm

All 5th thru 12th grade students are invited to audition for Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

AUDITIONS

Monday & Tuesday, September 7th & 8th, 7:00 to 9:00 pm

Auditions open to 5th grade through 12th grade.

Music: Each person should prepare a 30 second vocal of their favorite Christmas song

Readings: All auditionees will be asked to “cold read” from the script, provided at auditions.

Choreography: A short dance combination may be taught and performed during auditions. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes that you can comfortably and safely dance in. Please bring a water bottle with you.

CALLBACKS

Callbacks are not anticipated, however if the Director needs to see more, you will be brought back Wednesday, September 9th at 7:00 pm. Both students and their guardian will be contacted if they are being asked to attend callbacks.

Callbacks are not a guarantee of a role, also please do not be discouraged if you do not get a callback.

If you are cast, there is a $50.00 participation fee for this production. Scholarships (partial or full) are available if needed. Please contact a producer if you need a scholarship.

REHEARSALS

A read-through/parent meeting will take place soon after the cast has been selected. This will allow the production team to clearly outline expectations of the team, cast and parents. The cast members will be given their scripts so that they can begin working on their role. (date to be determined)

Rehearsals for this production begin September 14th, 2026, at Marshall High School, Marshall, Michigan.

Rehearsals run Monday-Friday 6:30-9 pm at the MHS, Marshall, Michigan.

** Conflicts will need to be listed on your audition sheet in order for them to be honored.

** Starting with Load in, ALL cast members must be present, no exceptions.

Rudolph

A young buck. Youthful; physically agile; winning performer; vulnerable but strong; a solid singer.

Vocal range top: B4

Sam

A snowman. A warm, middle-aged man with a relaxed demeanor. A powerful storyteller who never gets in the way of the story he's telling. A knowing sense of humor; an appealing, warm singing voice.

Gender: male

Santa Claus

Larger-than-life personality; cheerful but distracted. Agelessly youthful, but should read middle-aged. Should not be cast as heavyset. Strong singing voice.

Hermey

An elf. Charmingly apologetic, but with inner strength. Strong comic sensibility; must move well and have a strong character voice.

Clarice

A young doe. Youthful; physically agile. Strong, willful, loving, flirtatious, must have a lilting pure soprano voice.

Yukon Cornelius

A prospector. Tall, large man who should read mid-40s; instantly likable character; slightly absent-minded; physically agile and strong comedic ability.

Donner

Rudolph's father (can be double-cast as Boss Elf). Physically agile; tougher on the outside than he is on the inside.

Mrs. Donner

Rudolph's mother. Maternal, soft-spoken, quietly strong. Warm mezzo

Feisty, matter-of-fact, inherently warm. A strong belter.

Fireball

A young buck. Featured member of the chorus; young, sparky, boyish - will also understudy Rudolph.

Coach Comet

Reindeer Games Coach; Clarice's father (can be double-cast as Yukon). Physically agile; featured member of Santa's team; leads the reindeer games with coach-like quality.

Gender: male

Boss Elf

(Can be double cast as Donner) Humorless manager of the elves' workshop; innate comic sensibility. Also plays Blitzen in the finale sequence.

King Moonracer

King of the Island of Misfit Toys. King Moonracer is conceived as a large stage puppet; his personality must come through his voice, which projects a strong, decisive personality; stern but warm.

Bumble The Abominable Snow Monster

The Bumble is actually a series of three-dimensional puppet/set pieces, with a distinctive growl and series of sound FX

Charlie

A jack-in-the-box, one of The Misfit Toys (puppets with performer-puppeteers who voice these toys). The Misfit Toys, Satna's reindeer, and the Elves chorus should be double-cast as needed.

Bird
