Wednesday, December 4 from 7-9:30pm (Teens & Adults)

Regular rehearsals will start January 6, Mon-Fri from 7-9:30pm
Performances will be March 14-16, 21-23, 2025 at Marshall High School Auditorium for Performing Arts
“There’s no place like home.” This iconic book, made into a musical, tells the story of Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto, who are swept away in a cyclone and find themselves in a land called Oz. Wishing to return home, she embarks on a quest to get to Emerald City to ask the Wizard for help.
The Wizard of Oz is a very special show that has captured the imagination and hearts of generations. A show this big deserves a grand setting. We are not in Kansas anymore, we are at Marshall High School Auditorium for this beloved family classic.

Video auditions will be considered if you can not attend an in person audition although we encourage everyone to attend one of the audition days. You only need to attend one audition day. Please note: Any auditioner 18 years and older will be required to pass a background check before being cast in the show.
Auditions will be held in three parts - Vocal, Dance, and Reading for Roles
Teen & Adult Audition Requirements
Prepare to:
Read - From script excerpt provided at auditions with another person(s). No memorization is needed, but quite a bit of physicality is required for some roles.
Vocal - 30-60 seconds of an up-tempo musical theater song not from the show. Please provide your own tracks, a bluetooth speaker will be provided. NO A Capella. We are looking for character, confidence and preparation. If you exceed the time limit, you may be asked to stop.

Dance - The dance part of the audition will be done as a group. The choreographer will teach some steps to the group and they will run through the dance several times for the director. No preparation is needed. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes you can dance in. Also, please bring a water bottle.
Children Auditions
Prepare to:

No preparation is needed. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes you can dance in. Also, please bring a water bottle.
Rehearsals will begin Monday January 6th at Marshall High School. Rehearsals will be held Monday through Friday from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. Children will be released early, 8 - 8:30 until we start running the full show during rehearsals and will need to stay for the entire rehearsal.

ALL conflicts will need to be listed on your audition form. There cannot be any conflicts from the last two weeks of rehearsal through the completion of the show. Conflicts will be considered when casting.
Character List: All Roles Adult and Youth
DOROTHY GALE (13-17): Female, strong singer who moves well. V Range G below middle c-f with a mix of pop/legit.
HUNK/SCARECROW (20-35): Male, Baritone - G. Excellent actor, singer, dancer. Charming, thoughtful, honest.
HICKORY/TIN WOODMAN (20-40’s): Male, Baritone - G. Actor, singer, dancer. A kind-hearted romantic.
ZEKE/COWARDLY LION (20-50’s): ale, Baritone - G. Cuddly actor with excellent comic timing.
AUNTIE EM (30-50’s): Female, Maternal. Any vocal range. May double.
UNCLE HENRY (40-60’s): Male, Good hearted, plain-speaking farmer type. Any vocal range. May double.
ALMIRA GULCH/THE WICKED WITCH of the WEST (25-45): Female. Gulch is a mean, vindictive, bitter and cold person of status and wealth, who is ultimately lonely behind her snobby veneer. The Wicked Witch is vengeful, bitter and oppressive but also strangely beguiling and attractive with a dry wit.
PROFESSOR MARVEL/WIZARD of OZ (50-60’s): Any vocal range. Character actor, father figure with theatrical flair.
GLINDA (Teen-Adult): Mezzo-Soprano, G3-G5, Witch of the North (movie). Maternal, a good witch.
GUARDIAN OF THE GATES (15-40): Male, Baritone (E-flat)
ENSEMBLE: All vocal and age ranges needed SATB. Will be double cast as needed.
CITIZENS OF OZ (Teens & Up): Strong singers and dancers
THE WINKIES (Teens & Up): Palace guards to the Wicked Witch of the West
MUNCHKINS: Children (5-12) *Under 5 feet if possible

Due to the WiFi restrictions at the high school, if you plan to use an online link to an instrumental music track (via YouTube, for example) you will need to email your links to us before auditions.
- Please only use links that can be accessed without requiring an account. (YouTube, etc.)
- If you are using a file on a Bluetooth-capable device that can be accessed without internet access, you don’t need to send us anything.
- We will not be using a pianist, so please no .pdf files.
